The Lorax - movie review

I was given a wonderful opportunity to attend the premiere of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax today!  We have been anxiously awaiting the release of this movie and were thrilled to be invited to be one of the first to see it in Toronto.

The movie follows the journey of 12 year old Ted (Zac Efron) who is looking to find a real live Truffula Tree to impress the girl of his dreams, Audrey (Taylor Swift).  To do so, Ted must find the Once-ler (Ed Helms) who is the only one who can tell him how to find it.  The Once-ler tells Ted the story of what happened to all the trees and about the Lorax (Danny DeVito) who speaks for the trees and fights to protect his world.  The cast also includes the villain O'Hare (Rob Riggle), Ted's mother (Jenny Slate) and Ted's Grammy Norma (Betty White).

The Lorax has to be one of the sweetest and funniest animated films I have seen in a long time.  It keeps true to the book and gives a meaningful lesson about the importance of trees in our environment.  Bella was glued to the screen the entire movie.  Normally when we go to a movie, halfway through, she will tell me she has to go potty, even when she doesn't.  It's her way of getting up and walking around when she starts to get bored.  She didn't do that once during this movie.  She was glued to the seat the entire time.  We all loved the 3D graphics.  A few times I found Bella trying to reach out and grab whatever was coming out of the screen.  I can't think of one thing I didn't like about this movie.  The movie had enough jokes and dialogue to entertain both kids and adults.  A lot of times animated movies tend to have jokes that are more geared to adults and may be confusing for children.  I can't recall any of those moments today.  I give the movie 2 thumbs up and recommend it as a fun outing for you and the kids!

I want to thank Seventh Generation (the makers of green natural household cleaning products) for hosting this premiere and for the invite from Oh Baby! to attend.  I would also like to thank Seventh Generation for the tree sapling they handed out to all the children.  We have already planted ours in a pot as we will be taking it to hubby's grandparents farm where we will be planting it in a special place.  Bella is super excited to have a tree that she can call her own:)
